Welcome to…
I’m Sarah Krichel, a journalist and screenwriter based in Toronto. You may know me from my bylines covering media, tech, culture, politics or other things my interest-based attention span has gravitated toward. You may know me from my work in the indie film space, or from my student journalism days. Maybe you subscribed to my Patreon a few years ago. Whatever the lore we share — welcome to my newsletter!!!
Make Stuff is a monthly newsletter about modern-day creativity, culture and why we make what we make.
Many of us define who we are by how we make money. And even as some of us reach for play outside of work, our modern notions of creativity seemingly can’t be separated from things like capitalism, technology and consumerism. I’m interested in diving into how these systems shape the art we choose to create, and consume, and anything else that falls anywhere under that very large umbrella (no rules on Substack!). I’ll also publish fun stuff like reviews, advice, challenges and conversations with artists and friends.
All original Make Stuff artwork is by Leila Krichel and are available as prints for purchase. DM me!
Whether you’re an artist or a general ponderer of life, this newsletter will serve as a reminder to just make stuff. Consider subscribing or share this with that creative friend of yours. Thanks for making your way here, and I hope you make something today! ☕️
Sarah
